A Cape Cod woman was arrested on drug charges Wednesday afternoon.

According to Cape Cod Police Department officials, 29 year-old Elana M. Rice was arrested at the Cape Cod Vacation Condos shortly after 3:30 p.m. for possession of a class A drug and possession of a class B drug with intent to distribute. Court documents show Rice was in possession of heroin and cocaine.

Police learned Rice had an active warrant for her arrest in Orleans and began surveillance at the condos. After seeing her leave the motel, police conducted a motor vehicle stop and noticed Rice making adjustments with her hand in the area of her waist in an “elusive manner,” according to the arrest report. A search of the car uncovered a hypodermic needle filled with drugs.

Rice pleaded not guilty to charges in Barnstable First District Court on Thursday.
