Sunday night in Barnstable, two men were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking charges after officers arrived at a home on a domestic assault call.

The two men were local residents of the area and tried to flee the scene in a car. When officers approached their vehicle, one of the men tried to assault the officer, after stuffing a bag filled with white substance into his mouth. A search of their vehicle yielded another bag containing 60 grams of heroin.

After swallowing the bag that was in his mouth, the suspect was taken to Cape Cod Hospital. Both men were eventually arrested and charged with drug trafficking charges as well as committing a drug violation close to a school.
