A former police officer in Barnstable was recently arrested for drunk driving with a child in the car. The cop has now been arrested for six months after it was found that he took the child on a seven hour car ride while intoxicated.

According to police officials that were involved in the arrest, the man was taking the boy to his baseball tournament  last July and the boy felt so unsafe in the car, he ended up jumping from the vehicle. The former officer was also the coach of the team.

The Cape Cod Times reported that the man pleaded guilty last month and was sentenced to 30 days in jail for drunk driving and five months for child endangerment.  The officer resigned from the police station in September and is currently seeking treatment.
