A 50-year-old Cape Cod man was arrested in Westport for driving under the influence, making it his sixth drunk driving offense.

When the man was pulled over, he had numerous open containers of alcohol in his vehicle. He also admitted to the police that he had not possessed a legal license for nearly 20 years. He was driving on Route 6 when he was pulled over by Westport Police. The woman who called the police had been following the man in order to ensure that he didn’t harm anyone, and to keep tabs on him until the police could arrive.

The man was taken to jail, and his bail was set at $10,000. Prosecutors are trying to arrange a dangerousness hearing, in order to determine if the man is considered a danger to society. If he is deemed a danger, then he will be remanded in jail until his actual hearing.
