Man Arrested for Shooting BB Gun at Woman

A Harwich man will be arraigned Wednesday morning on charges he shot a woman with a BB gun Sunday night.

Accoridng to officials with the Barnstable Police Depatment, 24 year-old Corey Rathburn, of Harwich, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after he drove by a house on Angell Road at least twice, shooting at a car and at the woman.

Police arrived at the house shortly before 11:00 p.m. Sunday. The arrest report states the alleged victim was “visibly upset and shaken.”

While investigators were interviewing the woman, police stopped a sedan that matched the description of the suspect’s car. Officers found a 4.5 mm BB gun in the case on the back seat of the car, police said. BB ammunition was discovered on the front driver’s seat and a loaded magazine for the gun was found in the center console, according to the arrest report.

Painter, Teen Accused of Stealing Electronics

A man posing as a painter was arrested in Cape Cod Friday on theft charges.

According to officials with the Cape Cod Police Department, 23 year-old Justin Bruso, of Southbridge, was hired by a North Falmouth woman to paint the interior of her summer home. Police say the 45 year-old woman caught Bruso stealing flat-screen televisions, DVD players, and stereo equipment.

According to the arrest report, Bruso admitted to the thefts upon questioning. He then led the police to a home on North Falmouth Highway where 19 year-old Emily Hudon was allegedly storing some of the stolen items.

Bruso was charged with nine counts of larceny from a building. Hudon was arrested and charged with two counts of receiving stolen property valued more than $250, three counts of receiving stolen property valued less than $250, and being an accessory after the fact.

Two Charged with Intent to Sell Heroin in Cape Cod

Two men in Cape Cod have been charged with possession of heroin with intent to sell.

According to officials with the Yarmouth Police Department, 28 year-old Sandwich-resident Jason Adkins and 24 year-old West Yarmouth-resident Jeffrey Manwaring were arrested Thursday on drug charges. The two were arrested after Yarmouth and Barnstable police officers searched a house at 26 College Road.

The Search was linked to an investigation by the Yarmouth Police Department into the use and distribution of heroin around Cape Cod.

According to a Yarmouth police press release, Adkins and Manwaring were arraigned Friday in Barnstable District Court. Court records show their pretrial hearings are scheduled for May 27.

Criminal Defense Lawyer in Boston Charged with Money Laundering

A prominent Boston defense lawyer was arrested Wednesday on charges of money laundering.

According to court documents, Robert A. George, who has represented members of the New England Mafia, is accused of helping a former client launder $200,000 in drug proceeds. He is also charged with structuring cash deposits on behalf of another client to avoid bank reporting requirements.

Court documents indicated George’s former client was working with the government, and the client in the structuring deal was an undercover agent posing as a drug dealer from the Dominican Republic.

Jennifer Shasky, chief of the U.S. attorney’s office Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering Section, said Tuesday that prosecuting lawyers and other so-called gatekeepers was a “top priority” of her unit.

George is charged with money laundering, money laundering conspiracy, and structuring. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
